BOONE COUNTY, Ky. -- Eastbound Interstate 275 was closed for four hours Thursday after a semi truck carrying cars overturned and blocked all lanes in that direction.
The accident occurred about 10:40 a.m. past the Petersburg exit (exit 11) near the 10.2 mile marker. It reopened at 2:35 p.m.
Two semi trucks and a car were involved, but no one was injured, according to Tom Scheben, spokesperson for the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Scheben said a semi moved from the right lane into the left lane, forcing a car in the left lane into a cable barrier. The car, driven by a 17-year-old from Petersburg, careened out of control across the highway and into the path of the car carrier in the right lane, forcing that semi off the road. When the 48-year-old driver from Mississippi tried to correct it, his load shifted, causing the truck to overturn.
Wrecker crews had to lift four cars off the upper deck of the carrier and then free the tractor from the cable barrier before upturning it.
The driver of the semi who switched lanes left the scene without stopping, Scheben said. Anyone with information about that driver or semi is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040 or the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at (859) 334-2175.
