COVINGTON, Ky. -- Sorry, Northern Kentucky: It's shaping up to be another one of those weekends you might need to pack your patience.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has lane closures that are likely cause traffic headaches for anyone using interstates through Kenton and Boone counties.
Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, the ramp from northbound Interstate 75 to southbound Interstate 71 will be closed until 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers should follow the detour to the Richwood Road interchange.
Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, northbound I-75/71 will be reduced to one lane from south of Interstate 275 to near the Dixie Highway exit. Three lanes should be open by 6 a.m. Monday. Once they reopen, the Donaldson Road entrance ramp to I-75/71 will reopen.
There also might be some short-term ramp closures during the overnight hours on the ramps from I-275 to northbound I-75/71 and the exit and entrance ramps at Buttermilk Pike.
There is a bright spot with the construction on I-75/71, though: Work should wrap up by year's end, if not sooner.
