COVINGTON, Ky. -- The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge reopened Thursday afternoon after it had been frozen over, according to Cincinnati police.
The bridge, which connects Covington to Cincinnati, closed Wednesday morning after a wintry mix descended on the Tri-State. Police said they chose to close the bridge to cars after responding to 14 incidents on the ice-coated roadway. Sidewalks are still open for pedestrians, according to the Covington Police Department.
I was able to walk all the way across.

"The problem is the deck on the bridge is grated. It's like a cheese grater, and you can't salt it. It falls straight into the Ohio River, so we're kind of at the mercy of Mother Nature," said Assistant Chief Brian Steffen of the Covington Police Department.
