COVINGTON, Ky. -- Crews will close the right two lanes of the Brent Spence Bridge Saturday amid several events that bring thousands to downtown Cincinnati.

The closure begins at 11 a.m. Saturday along northbound Interstate 71/75; the lanes will remain closed until Sunday evening. The Fourth Street entrance ramp from Covington to northbound I-71/75 will also be closed.

Crews are closing the lanes to inspect recent repairs made to a damaged expansion joint and to add bolts.

Cincinnati is gearing up for a busy weekend; an estimated 60,000 visitors attend the three-day Cincinnati Music Festival each year. A series of related events have started taking place Downtown during the same weekend in recent years.

The music festival, along with food festival Cincy Soul, will add up to two things this weekend – road closures and higher-than-normal Downtown traffic.

Workers made emergency maintenance repairs on the bridge earlier this week. This weekend’s work will reinforce those repairs until crews find a permanent solution.
