CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati Bearcats football team will no longer take on Temple this Saturday, after players on both teams tested positive for COVID-19, UC announced in a news release Wednesday.
Health officials are contact tracing the players affected on both teams, UC said.
The game will not be rescheduled, according to the American Athletic Conference, and will instead be declared a no-contest.
On Tuesday evening, the Bearcats announced they'd ranked 7th in the first round of College Football Playoff standings in the 2020 season. It's the highest the Bearcats football program has stood in those rankings.
The Bearcats plan to return to the field on Dec. 12 to play Tulsa.
