CINCINNATI — We're on to the second round of the OHSAA football playoffs, and in Kentucky playoffs were just getting underway Friday night.
WCPO 9's Game of the Week was No. 4 seed St. Xavier (7-4) vs. No. 5 Moeller (7-4). Ahead of Friday, Moeller had won three consecutive games over St. X going back to 2022 — and Friday night's game made it win No. 4 with a 10-7 victory.
In an upset of the night, No. 9 seed Mason pulled out a 10-9 victory against the undefeated No. 1 seed Milford. The Mason victory marks the first major upset of the playoff season.
No. 7 Hamilton made the drive down to Sharonville to face No. 2 seed Princeton, who entered the game undefeated. The Vikings entered the game undefeated, and they stayed that way with a 31-14.
No. 6 Elder headed over to West Chester to face off with No. 3 Lakota West. Lakota West took the lead in the 3rd quarter and they kept it the rest of the night. Lakota West is heading to the Round of 16 after a 24-14 win over the Panthers.
Wyoming versus Taft — this was the matchup in last year's Division 4 regional final, and a couple weeks earlier this season they faced off in the regional quarterfinals. Both teams went back and forth all night before Wyoming took back the lead in the opening drive of the second half. They went on to knock off Taft 35-26.
Moving to Division 6, undefeated Cincinnati Country Day took on Paint Valley. Paint Valley gave the Nighthawks a run for their money, but CCD stayed perfect with a 26-14 win.
Heading over to Indiana, East Central, who haven't lost since Oct. 14 of last year, took on Greenwood. The defending state champs continued to steamroll with a 47-0 shutout against Greenwood.
In one of the biggest football games in Withrow history, the Tigers lead two scores in the 3rd quarter. No. 6 Winton Woods got on the board, but it was too little, too late. No. 3 Withrow advances with the 16-7 win. They face Troy next week.
In an ECC showdown, No. 1 Anderson faced off with No. 9 Kings. Anderson won it big with a dominating 41-3 victory against Kings.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association will announce Sunday afternoon the neutral sites for the football regional semifinals Nov. 10.
The regional finals are scheduled for Nov. 17 while the state semifinals are Nov. 24. The state championship games are Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
