SHARONVILLE, Ohio — Princeton 2021 safety Leroy Bowers announced Saturday night he has verbally committed to play football at the University of Cincinnati.
"What a great day it is to be a Viking and Bearcat," Princeton coach Mike Daniels said.
Bowers, who is 6 feet 2 and 200 pounds, is the second Cincinnati-area player to verbally commit to the Bearcats this week. La Salle 2021 cornerback Iesa Jarmon announced his verbal commitment April 8.
Bowers, a first-team all-Greater Miami Conference selection and Division I second-team all-district selection in 2019, had 44 tackles (35 solo) for the Vikings (6-5) last season, according to the GMC website.
He also had three fumble recoveries, three interceptions and two sacks. He also had seven punt returns for 70 yards and 15 kickoff returns for 352 yards.
Bowers also had scholarship offers that included Kentucky, Maryland and Pittsburgh along with Mid-American Conference programs, according to 247 Sports.
Bowers is the eighth verbal commitment in the Bearcats' 2021 class.
