SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Brian Kellett has accepted St. Xavier High School’s offer to become the interim varsity basketball coach for the 2018-19 school year.
Kellett, a 1998 St. Xavier graduate, played for four years in the St. X basketball program and served as captain during his senior year.
Kellett will begin his duties as interim head coach immediately. He succeeds Jimmy Lallathin, who stepped down last week after coaching three seasons.
Kellett, a Madeira boys' basketball assistant coach since 2015, has coached in various roles at St. Xavier from 2003-2007, 2009-10 and 2012-2015.
This past season, Kellett helped take Madeira to the regional finals for the second time in program history. Madeira (19-8) was a Division III regional runner-up to Deer Park. Kellett has a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Miami University and a Master of Arts in education from Xavier University.
He is the president of Kellett Schaffner Wealth Advisors and lives in Madeira with his wife, Sarah, and daughters, Grace and Norah.
“I have full confidence that Brian is the right person to lead the program next year,” said principal Terry Tyrrell. “He embraces the culture and mission of St. Xavier High School and will connect to our student-athletes and the St. Xavier community. He will build upon the growth of the program over the last few years.”
