GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Moeller senior forward Jaxson Hayes has a busy September schedule of college visits starting this weekend.

The 6-foot-11 basketball standoutwill make an unofficial visit to Kentucky on Saturday before making an unofficial visit to Illinois Sunday.

Hayes, the son of Bengals Tight Ends Coach Jonathan Hayes, will also take official visits to Texas (Sept. 8-9) and Xavier (Sept. 15-16).

An athletic rim protector and finisher with a guard skill set who can run the floor, Jaxson is one of the most highly recruited area basketball players in the 2018 class despite being in a backup role to Moeller 2017 forward Riley Voss (Cornell) last season.

Jaxson is rated Ohio's No. 6 player in the 2018 class by 247Sports.

“He’s literally getting better by the hour,” Moeller coach Carl Kremer told WCPO.com in July. “It’s kind of incredible to watch right now.”

Jaxson, who led the Greater Catholic League South division with 31 blocked shots last season, has the genes of two former collegiate All-Americans in his father, Jonathan, a standout at the University of Iowa and 12-year NFL player and mother Kristi (Kinne), a Drake University basketball standout who averaged more than 50 points her senior year of high school in Iowa.

Moeller finished with a school-record 28 wins and was undefeated until the Division I state final last season.

The Crusaders open the 2017-18 season against Columbus Eastmoor in the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic at Southern State Community College in Hillsboro Dec. 2. (7:30 p.m. tipoff).
