CINCINNATI — St. Xavier junior quarterback Brogan McCaughey is second in the GCL with 761 passing yards and 7 touchdowns through three games this season. He walked 100 Yards at Ballaban Field with WCPO's Reggie Wilson ahead of the Bombers' Week 4 matchup against Indianapolis Cathedral.

Q: This is your junior season. First time starting as the quarterback. What has this experience been like for you?

A: Just coming off of freshman year, sophomore year, learning from Matthew Rueve as quarterback last year, he taught me great stuff. It's a little nerve-racking, varsity, first year, but teammates support me. They make it easy for me. It's just a lot of fun.

Q: You've been kind of balling a little bit. First game was on national television. Do you get nervous?

A: Honestly, I thought I was going to be more nervous, but it was definitely an experience. Especially with the first game being on ESPN, but it was very fun.

Q: With guys like Chase Wolf and Sean Clifford coming through this program, do you feel the weight of how it is to be a St. X quarterback?

A: I would definitely agree that there's a lot coming. You have to step into their big shoes that they left ,so it especially helped during the summer. I trained with with Matthew Rueve, Sean and Chase. They just help me grow, be a better player and have really helped me this year.

Q: What do you hope to achieve as quarterback of this football team?

A: Honestly, I'm just trying to work for my team and get a state championship. Hopefully two of them. Every year we're going to strive to be the greatest and try to win state.
