CINCINNATI — Elder 2021 linebacker Joey Stemler announced Wednesday night that he has verbally committed to play football at Ball State University.
Stemler, listed at 6-foot-1-inch tall and 220 pounds, also had scholarship offers from Toledo, Morgan State, Eastern Illinois, Murray State and Tiffin and a roster spot opportunity from Morehead State, according to Elder coach Doug Ramsey.
Ball State offered a scholarship to Stemler on May 8.
"During this recruiting process I have had the opportunity to meet many great coaches and learn about many great schools," Stemler tweeted. "I want to thank every coach for taking the time to talk with me."

Stemler also thanked his family for their support throughout the process as he looks forward to continuing his academic and athletic career at the Mid-American Conference program.
Stemler had 40 tackles (26 solo) including a sack in 12 games for the Panthers last season, according to the Greater Catholic League website.
Elder (12-3 in 2019) was the Division I state runner-up last season. Elder started football skills and physical training on Wednesday.
