Report: McCarron wins grievance against Bengals

Posted

CINCINNATI -- Bengals backup quarterback AJ McCarron won his grievance against the team and will be a free agent, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported citing an unnamed source.

McCarron had argued he should have accrued an extra year toward free agency that the team denied him by putting him on the active roster too late his rookie season. McCarron missed training camp and most offseason practices that year due to shoulder soreness.

He filed the grievance last November, days after a paperwork goof-up apparently spoiled a plan to trade McCarron to the Cleveland Browns.

Still not naming a source, Rapoport also reported McCarron is due lost salary from his time off the active roster in 2014.
