CINCINNATI -- The colors of the rainbow were just as visible as FC Cincinnati’s Orange and Blue inside Nippert Stadium Saturday night.
In honor of Cincinnati’s Pride Parade and Festival, The football club celebrated Equality Night at their latest match against Saint Louis FC.
FC Cincinnati President Jeff Berding said soccer brings people together across the globe, so it was only fitting to celebrate togetherness at Saturday’s game.
"We're a sport of the future, an inclusive sport,” Berding said. “We believe that when everyone comes together in this town it makes our city greater. It makes our club greater."
Ian Meiman came from out of town to watch the game. He said the celebration of Pride inside Nippert was “absolutely beautiful.”
"I knew ahead of time of the parade. I didn't know it would be so infused with the game as well,” Meiman said.
Even the corner kick flags sported rainbow colors.
Meiman said FC Cincinnati’s celebration of diversity is something to be proud of.
“It doesn't matter where you're from, where you are, who you love. You're all here just to have a good time,” Meiman said.
FC Cincinnati beat Saint Louis FC 2-0. They will take the field again at 8 p.m. Wednesday against Chicago Fire.
