CINCINNATI -- Xavier University named Travis Steele, 36, as its new head basketball coach on Saturday, just three days after former head coach Chris Mack said he was leaving for Louisville.
Xavier President Fr. Michael J. Graham officially introduced Steele at a news conference Wednesday afternoon. Watch that conference in the video player below.
Mack had said he hoped to add Steele, his associate head coach at Xavier, to his Cardinals staff if Xavier didn't promote him.
Athletic Director Greg Christopher said Steele got a five-year contract, CBS Sports reported. Financial terms were not disclosed.
