CINCINNATI — The UC men's basketball team's upcoming game against Wichita State has been postponed due to "player availability," the sixth Bearcats game this month to be postponed for COVID-19 concerns.

The American Athletic Conference announced Monday that UC vs. Wichita State, set for Wednesday, would be rescheduled.

On Friday, the Bearcats' game at South Florida, set for Jan. 30, was postponed after contact tracing put the Bulls player availability in jeopardy. Games had also been postponed versus East Carolina (Jan. 13), at Tulane (Jan. 16), at Temple (Jan. 20) and at Houston (Jan. 23).

The Bearcats are now scheduled to play Temple on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena. Their game against Tulane has been rescheduled for Feb. 26, also at Fifth Third Arena.

UC's men's basketball program will "undertake limited team activities with a goal of returning to the court soon," according to a statement from UC Athletics.

"The health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and staff remains the department's primary focus and we continue to salute the work of our athletics medical staff," the statement read.
