CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bearcats football home opener on Sept. 19 against Austin Peay will air on ESPN.

Kickoff at Nippert Stadium will be at noon, the American Athletic Conference announced Tuesday. Radio coverage will be available on 700 WLW.

The Bearcats hold a 7-0 all-time edge over the Governors as they prepare to meet for the seventh time. The game is slated to be UC's latest start since 1968, when they faced Texas Tech on the road on Sept. 21.

Nippert will not host fans in the stands for the opener or for the foreseeable future, according to UC Director of Athletics John Cunningham. Officials will allow fans to return later in the season if they feel it is safe to do so, but no timeframe has been established.

Cunningham said in a note that officials will monitor the virus and its impact on the campus community.
