DAYTON, Ohio -- Wright State sophomore guard Grant Benzinger has requested and received his release from the basketball program, according to Moeller High School coach Carl Kremer.

Benzinger just finished his sophomore year with the Raiders. He averaged 7.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per game this season for Wright State.

Wright State named Scott Nagy as the Raiders coach on Tuesday morning. Formerly of South Dakota State, Nagy is the ninth coach in the history of the Raiders program.

Wright State fired Billy Donlon in March after six seasons. He led Wright State to a 22-13 mark this past season.

Benzinger scored a season-high 19 points at Kentucky Nov. 20. He had a career-high 31 points against Oakland in February 2015. He was named to the Newcomer Team for the Horizon League his freshman season.

Benzinger, a 2013 Moeller graduate, is the son of former Cincinnati Reds player Todd Benzinger.
