CINCINNATI -- Former Ohio State pitcher Alex Wimmers, a 2007 Moeller graduate, will be called up to the Minnesota Twins Friday, according to Moeller baseball coach Tim Held.
Wimmers will be the 13th former Moeller player to play in Major League Baseball. Minnesota plays at Toronto Friday night.
Wimmers was a back-to-back Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and a two-time All-American with the Buckeyes, and a first-team all-GCL South his senior year at Moeller.
He was the No. 21 pick by the Twins in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brent Suter was called up earlier this month. He just picked up his first MLB win this week.
