Are you out of work or working reduced hours due to the pandemic? WCPO.com wants to help.

WCPO has partnered with the job search firm Indeed.comto list thousands of current openings in the Tri-State right now.

It could help someone like Mely Positiva, a leader of the local Latino community, who organized a zumbathon fundraiser last year.

Now, though, this Anderson Township mom, like so many others, is struggling to earn money.

"It's difficult," Positiva said. "We have a family to support... And for the last couple of months it was very hard."

She, her husband and their daughter April paint houses, but she says many homeowners have stopped hiring painters this year.

"If the homeowners stop working a couple of months, they don't have the resources to pay people," she said. So her income is down sharply. But she doesn't qualify for unemployment benefits.

Tough time to find employment

With so many businesses now closed for good, or at least not hiring, this is a very tough time to be looking for work.

So WCPO partnered with Indeed.com, to create an easy-to-search jobs board, listing thousands of local employment opportunities.

Among the local listings:

  • Computer coding workers
  • Office assistants
  • Warehouse workers
  • Mail carriers
  • Delivery drivers

The men's hair salon Eighteen Eight in Oakley needs to fill two jobs, according to owner Chris Brown.

"We have two types of positions," Brown said. "One is a stylist-barber position and we are looking for talent... The other is our front desk, and what we call our director of first impressions."

Here's how to find these listings:

  • Go to WCPO.com/jobs
  • If you are on a desktop or laptop computer, click the "Job Search" link near the top of the WCPO homepage
  • Be sure to enter Cincinnati or your zip code, to filter out listings in other states.

Positiva said anything could be a help to her and her family right now. She's hoping business improves and she can be teaching dancing again soon.
