CLERMONT COUNTY — The career center at UC Clermont sits empty right now, but that doesn’t mean its work has stopped. All of its aid has moved online, where a free webinar will be held for the whole community in partnership with the Clermont County division of Ohio Means Jobs.

“A lot of people may not be aware that there’s quite a bit of funding available through Ohio Means Jobs for individuals who are displaced to come back, get training or upskilling, or even pursue a degree free of charge,” said Monika Royal-Fischer, director of the EXCITE Center, the career center at UC Clermont.

The webinar will be held on Zoom and is aimed to help people who are unemployed find a career path or get the necessary training to become more “marketable”.

“It’s easy to let what’s happening right now suck the wind out of your sails,” said Royal-Fischer. “It’s easy to take it very personally if you’ve been separated or furloughed or your industry is so impacted that you’re laid off, but it’s not you.”

Ohio Means Jobs and UC Clermont are prioritizing placing people in high growth career pathways like I.T., healthcare, manufacturing. Click here for a list of in-demand jobs.

“This is your chance for reinvention and pushing that restart button and putting your feet back on the ground and getting to go,” she added. “Sometimes you need people to motivate you!”
