MONROE, Ohio — A company in Monroe may have slowed down production during the pandemic, but now that company is looking to hire more employees through a job fair on Thursday to help ramp up production.
Officials from UGN, a company that makes acoustic interior carpeting for Honda, Toyota and Subaru, said they started an increase in production of their products in mid-June after they had to shut down earlier in the year.
When they did come back, they saw they needed to hire 80 additional employees to meet the demand.
"The consumer demand out of shutdown, out of the COVID shutdown, increased dramatically," Becky Ponatoski, the human resources and safety manager for UGN, said. "We had to start producing right away."
There are at least 20 job openings UGN hopes to fill, and to do so, the company will hold the job fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their location in Monroe at 201 Exploration Dr. Some of the open positions include production operators, material handlers and maintenance technicians.
