CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble released a new commercial for Olay recently featuring a local business owner, and now that owner wants people to know the road to success isn't often easy.
Honour Hook, owner of Brow OTR, is no stranger to the spotlight. She lived in Las Vegas about a decade ago, pursuing a comedy career, and then a television opportunity presented itself. But that all came to a sudden stop.
"Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with cancer when I was kind of at my peak," Hook said.
Then Hook found out about microblading, a type of eyebrow tattooing which is often performed on cancer survivors like her.
"I thought, I need that, and I thought a lot of people need that," Hook said.
One of Hook's clients knew about the new ad from P&G, which called for a woman of color who was also a strong business owner, and her client thought Hook would make the perfect candidate.
"I think I went through three or four auditions and got the part," Hook said.
And Hook said unwavering support from her family members, like her husband and recently passed father, played a roll in motivating her to be the best version of herself.
Alex Pillow, Hook's niece who also appears in the commercial, said she has always looked up to her aunt.
"She's always been able to achieve anything and everything," Pillow said. "It's beautiful. The world gets to see things I get to see..."
Ultimately, Hook said, she hopes the ad helps inspire others to be fearless in their own skin.
"I love building relationships," Hook said. "I meet some of the most beautiful, empowering, inspiring women every single day."
