HEBRON, Ky. — The Anderson Ferry has shut down operations for Sunday during a round of heavy winds that caused barges to come loose on the Ohio River.
The Cincinnati Fire Department helped secure the barges near the ferry ramp so they would not become a hazard.
High winds have caused these barges to come loose on the Ohio River near Anderson Ferry. We helped to secure them so they are not currently a hazard. The ferry ramp remains blocked but it is not running this afternoon due to the winds. All should be restored by this evening. pic.twitter.com/tG7dE7Sv0t

The ferry will resume operations Monday at 6 a.m.
Because of the Brent Spence Bridge closure earlier this week, the ferry has seen an uptick in traffic as commuters consider alternate routes.
We have had to shut down for today. The wind is just too intense. We’ll be back tomorrow morning @ 6:00am.
