FAYETTEVILLE, Ohio -- A 17-year-old drowned in Lake Lorelei Thursday afternoon.
Maxwell Dickey was swimming near the beach with friends at about 2:24 p.m. when he disappeared under the water, Brown County Sheriff Gordon Ellis said in a news release. Several people immediately went looking for him, but were unable to find Maxwell, according to Ellis.
Police, EMTs, deputies and others responded to help search. A search team came out with specialized water equipment and found Maxwell. The coroner's office pronounced him dead at the scene.
