BUCKHORN, Ky. (AP) — A coin toss that landed on heads means alcohol sales will be allowed at Buckhorn Lake State Park.
It was at least the third time this year that a coin flip was used to break a tied Kentucky vote.
WYMT-TV reports the coin was flipped Thursday at the old Perry County courthouse after a local referendum ended in a tie vote Tuesday, 155-155. The park and 1,200-acre lake is nestled in a dry precinct about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from the Virginia border.
State law allows tie votes to be settled with a coin flip.
Coin flips settled two races in Kentucky earlier this year, a constable race in Martin County and a magistrate race in Logan County.
