MENIFEE COUNTY, Ky. -- A Northern Kentucky man who was the subject of a dayslong search at Red River Gorge has been found dead.

The missing man, Leslie Reynolds Jr., texted his mother Tuesday night, stating he was lost and could not find his vehicle.

Search teams had been looking for him since.

A cadaver dog helped locate Reynolds' body at about 6 a.m. Saturday, according to Wolfe County Search and Rescue. He was in a place where searchers wouldn't have seen him, according to the search team's Facebook post.

The team said it appears he may have slipped down an embankment and hit his head, where he had a pre-existing injury from a car crash several years ago.

Melody Smallwood, the Menifee County coroner, said Reynolds' cause of death has not yet been determined. She sent his body to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The Wolfe County search team had a request: "Please keep his family and all responding units in your thoughts and prayers."
