MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — UPDATE: Montgomery County Sheriff David Charles says at least 500 vehicles were cleared along I-64 on Thursday.
Road crews worked Thursday night into Friday morning on the main roads in Mt. Sterling.
The I-64 110 mile-marker westbound ramp is now open, but there is a lot of congestion moving westbound on the Interstate.
All of the semi trucks and tractor trailers that were forced to pull off in Mt. Sterling overnight are vying to get back on the road.
Traffic is moving very slow.
I-64 Eastbound near Mt. Sterling had been shut down Thursday after at least 40 vehicles were involved in a major pile-up.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said I-64 Eastbound had been shut down at the 101-mile marker and shutdown Westbound at the 110-mile marker.
As of now, the sheriff says they don't think there are any serious injuries in the pile-up, but that could change.
