WILDER, Ky. — A landslide near the Wilder/Newport border on Ky. 9 closed the road on Tuesday, according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials.
All four lanes of the highway are blocked near Bobby Mackey’s, chief district engineer Bob Yeager said. There's no word on when the road will reopen.
“We are developing a short and long term plan to reopen the road and to address the slide,” Yeager said.
A similar landslide closed the highway for a little over two weeks last June.
Drivers can use Moock Road to U.S. 27 to 11th Street as a detour. Larger trucks should avoid the area and use Interstate 275 and Interstate 471 as an alternate route.
