BROOKVILLE, Ind. — A Franklin County man was killed in a crash when an oncoming driver swerved across the road and they crashed head-on.

John Graydon Richards II, 52, of Cincinnati, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck eastbound on U.S. 52 at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday when he veered into the westbound lane and collided with a 2007 Ford Focus driven by 56-year-old George E. Kraus of Brookville, according to Franklin County deputies.

Kraus was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses called 911 before the crash to report erratic driving, deputies said in a news release. Witnesses told deputies that Richards had been driving erratically, including going over the center line, before the crash.

Franklin County EMS drove Richards to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation pending the outcome of toxicology tests, deputies said.
