AURORA, Ind. — Firefighters in Aurora, Indiana rescued a dog named Sally who fell through ice into a freezing lake Thursday evening.

Aurora Fire Rescue, Aurora Emergency Rescue and Dearborn County Water Rescue were paged to the 11600 block of Gatch Hill Road at 6 p.m. for a report of an animal that had fallen through the ice.

There, they found Sally paddling in water in the center of a body of water 15 feet deep and covered in ice. Firefighters used a nearby paddle boat and quickly chopped through the ice to reach her.

Sally, confused at first, was able to be hoisted into the paddle boat, and firefighters returned her to shore.

Now, Sally is safe at home with her owners. She is expected to make a full recovery.
