CINCINNATI -- Immigration is a hotly debated topic, and identifying solutions that take into account human lives while maintaining the security of the United States is complicated.
The Pew Research Center estimates that as of 2016, there were 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, and there are currently 690,000 people enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. WCPO 9 On Your Side set out to profile one family in which some people are citizens, one is a DACA recipient and one is an undocumented immigrant.
This family lives in fear of being broken apart because of their mix of immigration statuses. For that reason, we’re telling their story without using their real names or showing their faces. WCPO comics journalist Kevin Necessary and reporter Breanna Molloy joined forces to bring you this real-life story in a reimagined format.
