Cincinnati's hometown heartthrob Nick Lachey might have to rely on nostalgic '90s kids to buoy him through upcoming weeks of "Dancing with the Stars." Although his adorable relationship with wife and unexpected dance champ Vanessa makes cute TV, the former 98 Degrees member just doesn’t seem to be much of a dancer.
Lachey and partner Peta Murgatroyd nearly became the second couple eliminated from the show’s 25th season Tuesday night after his stiffness hamstrung their Argentine tango in the eyes of the judges. For the second night in a row, they earned a 19 out of 30.
But it was country singer Debbie Gibson and partner Alan Bersten who bit the bullet and said their goodbyes Tuesday despite scoring two points higher than Lachey that night.
We believe Lachey can definitely sharpen up his moves in the future, though, like the night’s surprise star Frankie Muniz. Muniz earned a 19 of 30 in his first dance before jumping to 23 Monday and a season-high 25 Tuesday.
(Not literally jumping, though. His back injury is a major part of his season storyline.)
Vanessa Lachey and partner Maks Chmerkovskiy stayed strong and claimed fourth place overall with a score of 23. Muniz, violinist Lindsey Stirling and Broadway star Jordan Fisher each placed ahead of them.
Like we’ve mentioned before, this season seems a little weighted in the favor of Stirling and Fisher, both of whom have strong dance backgrounds and came into the experience with a fully formed skill set. We’ll keep rooting for our local underdog.
We’re never giving up on you, Nick.
