Where you can recycle live Christmas trees, lights in 2020

The holidays are over, meaning many live Christmas trees and broken holiday lights are getting kicked to the curb.

Here's how you can make sure they're disposed of properly (and even give those trees new life as mulch).

IN OHIO

HAMILTON COUNTY

Cincinnati

The Department of Public Services will collect live trees during regular yard-waste collection schedules until Jan. 10, 2020. After that, Christmas trees may be placed out with regular trash collections.

You can also drop them off at these locations on Jan. 4 and Jan. 11 from noon to 3 p.m.:

  • Bzak Landscaping, 3295 Turpin Lane, Anderson Township
  • Kuliga Park, 6717 Bridgetown Road, Green Township
  • Rumpke Landfill, Struble Road and Colerain Avenue, Colerain Township

CLERMONT COUNTY

Village of Batavia and Batavia Township

  • Crews will pick up trees left on curbs throughout January during regular yard-waste pickup.

Loveland

  • Crews will pick up trees left on curbs between Jan. 2-17.

Miami Township

  • Drop off undecorated live trees at Paxton Ramsey Park, 6265 Price Rd., or Miami Meadows, 1546 Ohio 131, from now until Jan. 31.

Milford

  • Crews will pick up undecorated live trees from curbsides every Wednesday in January.

Pierce Township

  • You can drop off live trees at the dumpsters at the Pierce Township Administration Office, 950 Locust Corner Rd., from now until Jan. 10.

Union Township

  • Drop off trees behind the Police Department building, 4312 Glen Este-Withamsville Rd., through the entire month of January.

Pattison Park, Clermont County Park District

  • County residents can drop off trees lakeside at Pattison Park, 2228 US-50, Batavia between now and Jan. 12.

BUTLER COUNTY

Hamilton

  • Crews will pick up trees left on the curb with trash pickup.

Fairfield

  • You can drop off trees at Waterworks Park, 5021 Groh Lane, now through Jan. 4. Look for the tree-disposal corral. You can also leave trees at the curb for trash pickup.

Oxford

  • You can leave your trees on the curb for pickup between Jan. 5- 30 on regularly scheduled refuse collection days.

Middletown

  • Residents can leave trees at the curb with their household trash pickup by Rumpke.

Monroe

  • Residents can leave trees at the curb with their household trash pickup by Rumpke.

Trenton

  • Residents can leave trees at the curb with their household trash pickup by Rumpke.

West Chester Township

  • Residents can drop off trees at Keehner Park near the tennis courts, 7411 Barret Rd., and at Beckett Park off of Union Centre Blvd. in the soccer field area from Dec 26 - Jan 31.

Other disposal options and recycling options:

Rumpke

  • Butler County Rumpke customers can leave trees at the curb for pickup with trash during the first 2 weeks in January. Rumpke prefers trees to be in a disposable bag and cut in half if the tree is longer than six feet. After the first two weeks in January, call Rumpke at (513) 742-2900 to schedule a pickup.

CSI/Republic Service

  • You can call to schedule tree pickup and for pricing at (513) 771-4200.

Tri-State Landscaping Supply

  • You can drop trees off at 2864 Cincinnati Dayton Road near Middletown/Monroe for no charge.

Christmas lights

Drop off broken or unwanted holiday lights at one of these two locations:

  • Ronald Reagan Lodge at Voice of America MetroParks, 7850 VOA Park Dr., West Chester
  • Ranger Station at Rentschler Forest MetroParks, 5701 Reigart Rd., Fairfield Township

WARREN COUNTY

Deerfield Township

You can drop off trees to be recycled at one of these three parks:

  • Landen Deerfield Park, 2258 W. SR-223, Maineville
  • Fleckenstein Park, 3834 Mason-Montgomery Rd., Mason
  • Cottell Park, 5847 Irwin-Simpson Rd., Mason

You can also drop off live trees to be recycled at one of these locations:

Christmas lights

Recycle your broken or unwanted holiday lights at one of these three locations:

  • Warren County Administration Building, 406 Justice Dr., Lebanon
  • Landen Deerfield Park near concession stand, 2258 US-22, Maineville
  • Armco Park near main entrance, 1223 OH-741, Lebanon

IN KENTUCKY

KENTON COUNTY

Covington

The city will offer curbside pickup for trees Jan. 4-18.

Starting Dec. 28 through Jan. 18, you can discard your tree at one of three locations:

  • Parking lot off Tripoli and Hands Pike near Neighborhood Park
  • Devou Park’s Urban Forestry Garage at 1700 Montague Rd.
  • 14 Pete Rose Pier near the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge

Fort Wright

  • From Dec. 28 to Jan. 13, drop off live and undecorated trees at City Hall, 409 Kyles Ln.

BOONE COUNTY

Florence

Crews will pick up trees on city curbs trees onJan. 8 from 7 a.m to 5 p.m. Place your trees outside the night before.

Drop-off

From now until 8 a.m. on Jan. 11, you can drop trees off at one of thesefive locations:

  • Boone County Cooperative Extension at the Enrichment Center parking lot near Burger King
  • Stringtown Park, one block west of Boone County High School
  • Union Park, formerly Union Pool
  • Walton Park by the back ballfields
  • Lakeside Christian Church lot at the corner of North Bend Road & Tanners Road

CAMPBELL COUNTY

Drop-off

  • You can drop off live, undecorated trees in the designated area of Pendery Park, 4051 Mary Ingles Hwy., Melbourne.
