MIAMISBURG, Ohio — In the early Sunday morning hours, shots rang out in the Oregon District of Dayton.
Less than 30 seconds later, the shooter would be dead -- but so would 9 other people, including the shooter's sister and one man from Warren County.
Logan Turner, 30, lived in Miamisburg, just to the south of Dayton and was originally from Springboro, in northern Warren County.
"You really don't see anything like this happening here in Dayton," said Shawn Sanford, Turner's next door neighbor in Miamisburg. "I just never thought it would happen in Dayton, Ohio."
Turner's high school coach tweeted about the former athlete. "Such a great young man lost too soon," the tweet read.
Heart is broken for Springboro alum Logan Turner, who was killed in the senseless tragedy last night in Dayton. Such a great young man lost too soon. Praying for comfort and healing for his family and all of his teammates who loved him so much. Rest easy 78.#daytonstrong pic.twitter.com/KalRHbM20w

"It's kind of surreal, I guess, when something happens in Dayton and it's right next door to you," said Sanford. "It's kind of crazy. I look over into his back yard and I think 'I'm never going to see this guy again.' He's never going to come back home."
Turner just celebrated his 30th birthday on Tuesday.
