SPRINGBORO, Ohio — Just three days into the school year, the Springboro Schools Board of Education placed the district’s superintendent on paid administrative leave.

District Communications Coordinator Scott Marshall released the following statement following a special meeting of the board Friday morning:

"In the interest of Springboro Schools, the Board of Education has decided to place Mr. Dan Schroer, current Superintendent, on paid administrative leave."

The board appointed Carrie Hester, assistant superintendent, as interim superintendent.

The district will not comment further, according to Marshall.

The 2019-2020 school year is Schroer's third year with the district.

The district’s first of day of school was Wednesday, according to a school calendar. Kindergarteners and preschoolers return to school on Monday.
