MASON, Ohio -- A "large natural gas leak" forced the evacuation of Deerfield Towne Center on Thursday afternoon, according to the Warren County Emergency Management Agency.
According to Lee Freedman of Duke Energy, the leak began when crews drilling to install cable or fiber optic lines struck a gas line. Customers were promptly evacuated from the shopping center, where the smell was "intense."
Duke Energy crews fixed the line around 7 p.m., Freedman tweeted. No one was injured in the incident.
