MAINEVILLE, Ohio -- Traci Fletcher-Garrett loved bringing people together.
She was planning a community event with her friend, April Sova, when police say she was fatally shot by her ex-husband at her home in Morrow on Sept. 11.

Sova went on with the event, but Saturday’s fundraiser was held in memory of Fletcher-Garrett and her love for the community.
“The night before Traci was taken away from us she and I were actually planning an event, a networking event,” Sova said. “We wanted to get some vendors together basically to bring the community together.”
Sova said all proceeds from Saturday’s fundraiser will go towards Fletcher-Garrett’s two children, who are currently staying with their aunt.
“They don't have a place to even lay their heads at night, so this money is going to go toward renovation costs to assure they're going to have their own place to lay their heads at night and call home,” Sova said.
Sova said support from friends and even strangers has helped the Fletcher-Garrett children.
“Traci was an amazing person,” Sova said. “She was always very giving, so it's nice to be able to return how much of a friend she was to me.”
If you missed Saturday’s fundraiser, you can still donate to the Traci Fletcher-Garrett Memorial Fund through Fifth Third Bank.
