MAINEVILLE, Ohio — A coalition in Warren County wants to assure that residents get home safe from their New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The Warren County Safe Communities Coalition and local organizations teamed up to offer drinkers free or discounted rides home. The Monkey Bar & Grille, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and Atrium Medical Center’s Level III Trauma Center all donated Uber gift cards to the cause.
The cards will be handed out from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at The Monkey Bar & Grille located at 7837 Old 3C Highway in Maineville. Gift cards are available while supplies last. People hoping to snag a gift card must stop by the coalition’s booth at the bar to claim one.
“We want people to have fun this New Year’s Eve and remember to drink responsibly. Designate a sober driver before you leave, call a friend, call a taxi or use a mobile app like Uber,” said Ann Brock, coordinator for Warren County Safe Communities Coalition and trauma outreach coordinator for Atrium Medical Center.
Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell said his office will “aggressively” prosecute anyone who drives impaired on New Year’s Eve or any other day of the year.
Drivers who believe they see an impaired driver are encouraged to call the Ohio State Highway Patrol by dialing #677.
