LEBANON, Ohio — A wrong-way crash just before midnight Monday left one person dead and one person with severe injuries, according to the police.

Officers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Vestle Ridenour, 83, was driving south in the northbound lanes of State Route 48 in Lebanon near State Route 123. Seth Meintel, 19, was driving north on State Route 48 and the two vehicles crashed head-on.

Lebanon fire and EMS units pronounced Ridenour dead at the scene, and they had to extricate Meintel from his vehicle by "mechanical means." Emergency personnel took Meintel to Miami Valley Hospital for severe injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash, but they said alcohol and drugs don't appear to be factors.
