LEBANON, Ohio — Communities and organizations are set to celebrate Veteran's Day, but the pandemic has some handling things a little differently.
The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 469, in Union Township always put on a Veteran's Day ceremony and event. However, they had to change things a little bit this year.
"I was getting phone calls from our Veterans asking are you still going to have it?" Countryside YMCA's Stolle Center Director Julie Fennessey said.
They will have a socially distanced meet and greet event, and they will also have a much smaller veteran's ceremony, all at the Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio. In the years past, the event has hosted about 450 veterans, but this year they can only have about 150.
Other than those changes though, there will still be a veteran guest speaker and a presenting of the colors by the Little Miami High School JROTC program and the Warren County Sheriff's Honorguard.
"It is really so important," Fennessey said. "I mean, our country is free because of all they've done, and I feel like we need to recognize that so they're extremely excited."
