WEST CHESTER TWP., Ohio — A patient climbed into a drop ceiling of an emergency room bathroom, then fell and became trapped in a wall at West Chester Hospital Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.
Once in the drop ceiling, the man breached a fire wall and dropped to the floor behind an ER hallway wall, according to a West Chester Fire Department report.
Saying he was stuck, the patient beat on the drywall and kicked a hole in it. Firefighters then removed a large enough section of drywall and chair railing for the man to crawl to safety.
The incident happened shortly after noon Sunday, the Journal-News reported.
The man remained in care of West Chester Hospital public safety and emergency room medical staff, according to the fire report.
Hospital officials were unable to disclose any information about the incident due to patient privacy laws, according to UC Health officials.
