LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Officers have captured a Kenton County man who escaped from the Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington Monday, Kentucky State Police officials said.

The Kenton County Attorney's Office called Jordan Green, 24, "extremely dangerous" when they announced his escape on Facebook.

Green was convicted of robbery, burglary and theft charges between 2010 and 2014. His expected time to serve is through Oct. 6, 2031 with good behavior.

According to Blackburn spokesman Roger Kilgore, Jordan Green and fellow inmate Waltez Franklin were discovered to be missing from the facility just after 8 p.m. Monday.

Officials did not detail the circumstances surrounding the inmates’ escape from the minimum security facility.

As for their capture, though, Kentucky State Police Trooper David Jones said officers with K-9s apprehended the pair in Harrison County along a railroad track east of State Route 25, parallel to Interstate 75.

It was a railroad worker who noticed the two men and called authorities.

The two were back in custody at roughly 1:25 p.m., nearly 15 hours after their escape.

Green’s escape was particularly alarming for long-time Covington merchant Daniel Gebrehedhin, who found himself victim to Green in 2013, when Green and two other masked men robbed Gebrehedhin’s market at 19th and Garrard streets.

“They fought with me and took all of my phones, all my money, all my wallets, my camera, my cell phone,” he said.

Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders said Gebrehedhin was lucky to walk away from that encounter alive.

“Under the circumstances, he’s very lucky he wasn’t shot or killed,” Sanders said.

Officials said they expect more charges will be filed against Green and Walkins.
