INDEPENDENCE, Ky. — A 20-year-old woman died Thursday after crashing into an oncoming vehicle.

Natalie Schmidt, of Florence, was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero northbound on Taylor Mill Road at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday when she lost control of her car, crossed the center line and hit an oncoming 1995 Chevrolet Cheyenne, Independence police said.

Independence firefighters treated Schmidt at the scene and she was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

The other driver was driven to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The crash is still under investigation.
