COVINGTON, Ky. – A woman tossed her two dogs to neighbors and escaped a fire on the second floor of a house in Covington Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.
The fire happened on Bush Street near Garrard about 2:20 p.m., fire Capt. Kaleb Milller said.
By the time firefighters arrived, the woman had saved her dogs and climbed onto an awning and then to the ground. She didn’t have serious injuries but she was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
The fire was contained to one upstairs room, but there was smoke damage throughout the house, Miller said.
