COVINGTON, Ky. — Volunteers (who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty) are needed for the Great American Cleanup in Covington on April 27.

In 2018, about 750 volunteers cleaned up 27 sites in Covington — picking up 4 tons of trash, planting flowers, fixing signs and painting — to make Covington a little more beautiful.

The event is organized by Keep Covington Beautiful, the city of Covington and The Center for Great Neighborhoods.

Groups and individuals have registered to clean up 23 sites for the event so far, but organizers hope a few more sites are added to the list for volunteers to tackle, especially in the Latonia and South Covington areas, organizers said in a news release.

Volunteers can sign up individually or as a group, and have the option of registering a site (like a park you know needs some attention) or be connected to an existing project.

The cleanup takes place from 9 a.m. until noon on April 27. All volunteers receive a giveaway and breakfast. Items like trash bags, gloves, mulch and tools will be provided.
