COVINGTON, Ky. -- A celebration of the John A. Roebling bridge will include tours of the bridge, walks through Covington and displays of historic photographs on June 18.
Presented by LSI Lighting Solutions, RoeblingFest 2016 will focus on the historical importance of the art, architecture and engineering of the Roebling Bridge while looking forward to its 150th anniversary in 2017.
Activities include:
- Roebling Bridge tours for $5 a person, $20 per family
- Historic walking tours of Covington
- Displays of historic photographs and artifacts
- Silent auction with Roebling Bridge photographs for sale
Additionally, RoeblingFest will also offer a full day of live bluegrass music, sponsored by Devougrass.
There will also be three historical presentations which will discuss contributions to the construction and the state of the region at the time as well as the future rehab and restoration of the bridge.
Winners of the Roebling Bridge photo contest will also be announced at the festival. Winners will receive a cash prize, a trip to the top of the bridge and their photo will be featured in the 2017 Anniversary Roebling Bridge calendar.
Kona Ice, Gutierrez Tacos and Power Blendz Smoothies will be on-site to provide snacks.
RoeblingFest will take place at 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. June 18 at Third and Greenup Streets in Covington, Kentucky.
