NEWPORT, Ky. — Construction on Newport's concert venue is not slowing down, but that means a road will be partially closed Thursday to make way for some construction equipment.
Starting at 6 a.m., Fourth Street in Newport between Columbia and Central streets will be closed so that construction crews can get some building materials and other equipment to the site of the new concert venue. The road will closed until 6 p.m. Thursday.

While the closure is inconvenient for some, Doug Roell, Newport's community services director, said the venue is something for people to look forward to.
"It’s going to give people something to get out and do," Roell said. "I think a lot of people who are staying in are going to see how cities have changed and evolved through this pandemic, because there are a whole lot of things going on.”
Officials hope construction on the venue will be finished sometime in 2021.
