COVINGTON, Ky. -- Police have identified the man who died and the man who was hurt in two separate shootings at the City Heights housing complex, Capt. Brian Valenti said.
Police officers found Keevonte Thornton, 18, shot near Alden Court late Tuesday evening, Valenti said. First responders transported the man to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. His injuries were not life threatening, and he has since been released.
Another shooting happened in the same area at about 1:47 a.m. Wednesday, Valenti said. Police officers found Le’Monte Shields, 19, dead at the scene.
Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Kermanuel L. Rice, of Cincinnati. Rice is being held at the Kenton County Detention Center on a murder charge.
Covington Police Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Units are investigating.
