Northern Kentucky gives back while indulging in Mardi Gras

COVINGTON, Ky. -- On this Fat Tuesday, you can indulge while giving back to three great local causes. 

The 27th annual Mardi Gras for Homeless Children will include food and drink from local restaurants, live entertainment and a parade led by the Beechwood High School marching band. 

It all starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Tickets are $70, and proceeds benefit Bethany House, the Brighton Center and Welcome House of NKY. Buy tickets online here.

Operations Manager Sean McClain of the Metropolitan Club explained that giving back is really a passion and top priority for them.

"The homeless rate, especially amongst children, is far too large, so anything that can be done, which I think this is one of those events that really reaches out and makes sure that something does get done," McClain said.

Over the past 26 years, the event has raised more than $1.5 million for homeless children in Northern Kentucky.
