COVINGTON, Ky. -- Traffic at the foot of Madison Avenue will be down to one lane Monday morning as crews install the floodgate to hold back the rising river.
A large crane will be brought in late Monday morning to assist crews with the 10-hour process of installing the gate, Public Works Director Rick Davis said.
The latest forecast from the National Weather Service has theOhio River rising to 56.3 feet by Tuesday afternoon, just above the point that prompts the gate's installation, Davis said.
Flooding seems to be the theme for the month of February. In February 2018, the Ohio River also rose quickly after snow melt and very heavy rainfall, cresting at 60.5 feet on February 26.
